Short answer: Of the big east Bengaluru infrastructure projects, only the Purple Line metro and the STRR's Dobaspet–Hoskote section are running. The Blue Line's Silk Board–KR Puram stretch is reportedly targeting May 2027. Suburban rail to Whitefield is still acquiring land. PRR-1's eastern packages aren't tendered, and the KR Puram–Hoskote metro is only a project report.
- Running today: Purple Line (Whitefield–Challaghatta), STRR Dobaspet–Hoskote, the Karnataka section of the Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway.
- Next to open, by targets: Blue Line Silk Board–KR Puram (May 2027, as reported), then KR Puram–Hebbal (December 2027 to March 2028).
- Slow: suburban Corridor-3 (Kengeri–Whitefield) is at land acquisition, with no revised deadline given to Parliament.
- Roads: PRR-1 Packages 2 and 3 (Ballari Road–Old Madras Road–Channasandra) are due for tender by November, as reported. Package 3 has 28% of its land.
- Our Stage–Distance score turns each project into a number you can use in a price conversation.

Every brochure in Whitefield, KR Puram, Hoskote and on Sarjapur Road lists the same projects. This tracker puts them on one page with their actual stage, the latest target and who said it. Targets reported in news are labelled as news. We re-check each row when we update the page.

How much have targets slipped?
| Project | Earlier target | Latest | Slip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suburban rail (whole project) | October 2026 (as stated in the Lok Sabha question) | No revised date in the government's reply | Open-ended |
| Blue Line, full line | December 2027 | March 2028 (news) | 3 months |
| Red Line | Earlier deadline | Pushed back by two years (Deccan Herald, news) | 2 years |
| PRR | First planned in 2006, per the BDA chairman | Package 1 started 2026 | About 20 years |
Worked example 1: EMIs paid while you wait for the Blue Line
Illustrative: an ₹80 lakh loan at 8.5% over 20 years has an EMI of ₹69,426. You buy in October 2026 near an outer ring road station.
| If the stretch opens | Months from Oct 2026 | EMIs paid before opening |
|---|---|---|
| May 2027 (Silk Board–KR Puram, BMRCL target as reported) | 7 | 7 × ₹69,426 = ₹4,85,982 |
| March 2028 (KR Puram–Hebbal, upper target) | 17 | 17 × ₹69,426 = ₹11,80,242 |
Those EMIs come with today's commute. If the metro is why you're paying more, weigh the extra price against the wait.
Worked example 2: scoring two flats with the Stage–Distance score
Our framework scores each project you're counting on. Stage: running 5, safety-cleared 4, under construction 3, approved 2, proposed 1. Distance from your gate: under 1 km is 3, 1–3 km is 2, over 3 km is 1. Multiply the two and add up the projects.
| Flat A, near Marathahalli | Flat B, on Old Madras Road past KR Puram | |
|---|---|---|
| Purple Line | Running (5) × 1–3 km (2) = 10 | Running (5) × over 3 km (1) = 5 |
| Blue Line ORR | Under construction (3) × under 1 km (3) = 9 | Under construction (3) × over 3 km (1) = 3 |
| KR Puram–Hoskote metro | n/a | Proposed (1) × under 1 km (3) = 3 |
| PRR-1 Package 3 | n/a | Approved, land 28% (2) × 1–3 km (2) = 4 |
| Total | 19 | 15 |
Flat B's brochure lists more projects, but A scores higher because its projects are further along and closer. Use the score to question a higher price for "connectivity", not to predict prices.
The Stage–Distance score (our framework)
| Stage | Points | Distance from your gate | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Running | 5 | Under 1 km | 3 |
| Safety-cleared or trial runs | 4 | 1–3 km | 2 |
| Under construction | 3 | Over 3 km | 1 |
| Approved or tendered | 2 | ||
| Proposed or project report | 1 |
Re-score when a project moves up a stage, not when it's announced again.
Checklist before paying for "upcoming connectivity"
- [ ] Each project's stage, from this tracker or the agency's own release
- [ ] Who gave the target date: the agency, a minister or a news report
- [ ] The slip so far for that project
- [ ] Walking distance to the nearest running station, measured at peak hour
- [ ] Truck and noise exposure near STRR, the expressway and Old Madras Road
- [ ] Whether the flat's own approvals are solid, which matters more than any road (see our approvals guide)
- [ ] Flood points near the station or road (our flood-prone areas guide)
Area guides: Whitefield, KR Puram, Hoskote and Sarjapur Road.
Frequently asked questions
BMRCL was reported in October 2026 to be targeting May 2027 for the Central Silk Board–KR Puram stretch, with trials from November 2026. The minister said "mid-2027". Neither is a safety-cleared opening date, so plan on the later end.
Not yet. The Purple Line ends at Whitefield (Kadugodi). A KR Puram–Hoskote line of about 16–17 km with 11 stations along Old Madras Road is at the project report stage, as reported in October 2026. It has no approval or funding yet.
There's no date. Corridor-3 (Kengeri–Whitefield, 35.52 km) has an approved alignment, and land acquisition is under way. The Railways minister's July 2026 Lok Sabha reply gave no revised completion timeline. The project's original target was October 2026.
Yes. The roughly 80 km Dobaspet–Hoskote section via Doddaballapura and Devanahalli has been open for over two years. A further 21 km stretch towards the Tamil Nadu border was 94.89% complete and targeted for November 2026, according to a reported Rajya Sabha reply.
PRR-1, now called the Bengaluru Business Corridor, is 73.4 km from Tumakuru Road to Hosur Road. Package 1 in the north has started. The eastern Packages 2 and 3 are due for tender by November 2026, with 70% and 28% of land in possession, as The Hindu reported.
Not yet. BMRCL's project report for the 37.8 km Sarjapura–Hebbal line is dated February 2026 and awaits central approval. Soil testing began in October 2026, and Deccan Herald reported the line may open only by 2033. Treat it as years away.
Pay for what's running and close by. Projects under construction deserve some weight; proposed ones deserve little. Score each project by stage and distance, and work out what you'll pay in EMIs before the date you're relying on.
We re-check every row before each update and change the date at the top. Agency releases and parliamentary replies take priority over news reports. Where only news exists, we label it, and we keep missed targets in the slip table.
