How to Calculate Bricks Required

Estimating bricks for a wall requires calculating net wall volume, determining the effective unit volume of a single brick including mortar joint, and applying a breakage wastage allowance.

Gross Wall Volume
Multiply Length × Height × Thickness to get the total gross 3D wall volume.
Step 2
Deduct Openings
Subtract the combined 3D volume of doors and windows (Opening Area × Wall Thickness).
Step 3
Brick Module Volume
Add mortar joint thickness (10 mm) to length, width, and height of the brick: (L+J) × (W+J) × (H+J).
Step 4
Divide & Add Wastage
Divide Net Wall Volume by Brick Module Volume, then add 5% to 10% wastage for site breakage.
